Nothing on my mind
That is perfectly fine and actually a common feeling! Sometimes, when we try to do a mind dump, the mind goes completely blank because it feels the pressure of the exercise.
Let's pivot slightly and try a sensory approach, which doesn't rely on deep thoughts but just on what you are experiencing right now.
🌬️ Sensory Detail Exercise (No Thoughts Required)
This approach forces your brain to pay attention to the external world, which can "unstick" the creative flow.
Goal: Write 5 to 7 lines focusing only on your five senses at this exact moment in your current location.
| Sense | Question to Ask Yourself | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Sight | What is the most dominant color or shape you see? | The pale square of the window. |
| Sound | What is the faintest noise you hear? | The hum of the fridge downstairs. |
| Touch | What are you physically feeling right now (temperature, texture)? | The soft, heavy wool of my sweater. |
| Smell | Is there a scent (even faint)? | A lingering scent of coffee. |
| Taste | What is the lingering taste in your mouth? | The slight metallic taste of sleep. |
Instructions: Just write down the answers in quick, simple phrases. Don't worry about linking them together.
* Example result (not a poem yet):
> Fluorescent white light.
> The gentle clinking of Dusty's collar.
> My fingertips cool on the phone glass.
> An old wood smell, dusty books.
> The quiet hum of the heat turning on.

Would you like to try this sensory exercise now? It’s a great way to generate honest, concrete images when your thoughts feel empty.
